Earl E. Vermilyea

Lawton, Iowa—Earl E. Vermilyea, 82, of Lawton, a retired Lawton area farmer, died Sunday, July 28, 1991 at a Sioux City hospital, due to cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Community Presbyterian Church, Lawton, with Dr. Robert E. Peters officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mr. Vermilyea was born Jan. 8, 1909, at Climbing Hill, Iowa and graduated from Climbing Hill High School. He attended Iowa State University. He married Helen E. Peterson June 25, 1936, at Lawton. They farmed in rural Lawton from 1948 until they retired in 1986.

He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an elder.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim and his wife, Pat of Harvard, Ill; two daughters, Jane Brief of Tyler, Texas and Joan and her husband, Larry Henness, of San Dimas, California; a son-in-law, Ken TeSlaa of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a sister, Elloine Ruth of Shreveport, La. and eight grandchildren.
