SMITHLAND, Iowa -- Josephine Castle, 75, of Smithland died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at her residence.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa, with the Rev. LeRoy Struble officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Cemetery, Smithland. Visitation with the family present will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Willman Funeral Chapel in Rodney.

Mrs. Castle was born June 5, 1927, in Wichita, Kan. She grew up in Wichita and graduated from Wichita schools. She received her nursing education in Wichita and worked as a registered nurse in Wichita.

She was married to James W. Castle on June 27, 1959, in Wichita. They resided in Wichita until moving to a farm near Smithland in 1970, where they have since made their home. She took pride in her garden and raising chickens.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; a son, Dan of Smithland; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena (Polansek); and her stepfather, Virgil Hamilton.
