Sloan, Iowa—John W. Hobbs, 68, of Sloan died Wednesday at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Private family services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Sloan with the Rev Earl O Miller officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Hobbs was born September 15, 1930 in Ticonic, Iowa, the son of Otis Ray and Mabel (Racobs) Hobbs. He graduated from Sloan High School in 1949.

He married Lois Zortman on January 12, 1951, in Versailles, Mo. He was a farmer and employed as a district sale4s manager with Wilson Hybrids for 13 years. He retired from farming in 1997.

He enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors and was a former tractor pull judge.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Kris and John Carr of Hornick, Iowa; a son, J.R. of Seward, Nebr.; five grandchildren, J.J. and Valerie Rose Hobbs, Emily, Dane and Devin Carr, and a sister, Ardith Lindgren of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
