Donald Joseph Shearon, 55, Sioux City, a LeMars native, died Friday night, Jan. 7, 1977, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Michael Catholic church. Rev. Nicholas Ruba officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery under direction of the Larkin Northside funeral chapel.
Pallbearers were brothers of Mr. Shearon, John, Robert, Sherman, Delbert and Wallie and a brother-in-law, Gale Steinhoff.
The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Shearon was born Dec. 23, 1921, in LeMars. He was graduated from LeMars high school and was a Marine corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Shearon married Leah Steinhoff Feb. 3, 1944, in San Diego, Calif.
He was employed as a pressman for Richard Verstegen for more than 27 years.
At the time of his death, he was employed as an east coast driver for Country-Wide Services of Sioux City.
Mr. Shearon was a member and past officer of Local 63, International Printing Pressmen and Assistants Union of North America. He was a member of St. Michael church and was a past officer of the Holy Name society of the church.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Gatewood of Sioux City and Joleen Shearon of Sioux Falls; a son, Brian, at home; his mother, Mrs. John (Vera) Shearon of LeMars; five brothers, John of LeMars, Robert of Omaha, Delbert of Denver, Wallie of Houston, Tex., and Sherman of Clinton. Two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Celesta) Masuen of LeMars and Mrs. Victor (Maxine) Goerke of Scottsbluff, Neb., and a grandson also survive.
