Smithland, Iowa—Viola M. (Davis) Hair, 88, of Smithland died Saturday July 19, 1997 of an unexpected illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christy Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home. Burial will be in Smithland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hair was born in the Smithland area and attended school there. She married George Hair on August 6, 1924 in Ticonic, Iowa. He died September 19, 1986. She had lived in Woodbury County all her life except for two years in Texas.

Survivors include a son, Wayne of Hye, Texas; four daughters, Marie Kuhlman of Denison, Iowa, Martha Schram of Johnson City, Texas, Darlene Mack of Sioux City and Dorothy Caudillo of Smithland; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Masel Wood of Mapleton, Iowa and Ethel Wood of Smithland.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Lane, Maurine Hare, Hazel Harper and Edna May Davis; and two brothers, Billy and Charles Davis.
