Rodney, Iowa—Ronald D Uhl, 64 of Dyersville, Iowa, formerly of Rodney, died Tuesday April 4, 1997 at the Mercy Health Center, St Joseph Unit in Dubuque, Iowa following a heart attack.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Leslie Seaton Post 0666 of Smithland. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Uhl was born March 13, 1933, in Rodney, the son of Russell and Florence (Ferdig) Uhl. He graduated from the Smithland high school in 1951. He served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956, three years in Bremerhaven, Germany.

He married Virginia Dawdy of Sioux City on June 1, 1957. He was employed at Armour and Company in Sioux City, Blue Bunny Dairy for five years and before his illness, he was employed by Schwan’s Ice Cream Company for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Gary and Deb of Guttenberg, Iowa; two daughters and their husbands, Teresa and Kevin Hoeger of Galion, Ohio and Kathleen and Kevin Gudenkauf of Dyersville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nicole and Ben Hoeger, Alex, Wesley and Travis Gudenkauf; his mother, Florence Ruchti of Mapleton; two brothers and their wives, Wilfred and Betty of Smithland and Perry and Jan of Vermillion, S.D.; and a sister and her husband, Norma and Duane Reed of Atlantic, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his stepfather, Merle Ruchti.
