Hornick, Iowa—Wylma Hobbs, 85, a lifelong resident of Hornick, died Friday, Nov. 15, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Hornick with the Rev. Edgar Elliot officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, Iowa.

Mrs. Hobbs, the former Wylma Cox, was born Dec. 15, 1910 in Hornick, the daughter of William and Bessie (Metcalf) Cox. She graduated from Hornick High School in 1929 and received her teaching certificate from Morningside College that same year. She taught many years in rural and country schools. She married M. Jean Hobbs on Jan. 17, 1931, in Dakota City. He died June 5, 1966 in Sioux City.

Mrs. Hobbs was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornick.

Survivors include a daughter, Iona Sulsberger of Hornick; two sons, Mervin Hobbs of Phoenix, Ariz. and Dennis Hobbs of Treynor, Iowa; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Hobbs.
