George E. Smith Jr.

Anthon, Iowa—George E. Smith, Jr., 48, of Anthon died Wednesday at his farm home after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. The Rev. Gary Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mr. Smith was born September 16, 1934, at Anthon and graduated from Climbing Hill High School.

He married Shirley Putzier December 11, 1955, at Anthon. He farmed in the Anthon area for 30 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hornick Co-Op and Iowa Pork Producers. He was a past president and past vice president of the Woodbury County Cattlemen’s Association and past president of Brookside Men’s Golf League.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Alvena Smith of Moville and two sisters, Mrs. Oliver (Mae) Hinds of Anthon and Mrs. Darrell (Lorraine) Smith of Sioux City.

A memorial has been established in his name with Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville.
