Moville, Iowa- Ernest Jacob Steffen, 68, of Moville died Sunday, April 19, 1998, in Moville.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, with the Rev. Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mr. Steffen was born January 22, 1930 in Climbing Hill, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Dora (Mundt) Steffen. He graduated from Woodbury Central High School in 1950.

He married Marian Mavis Miller on June 7, 1953 in Moville.

He was a farmer in the Moville area and raised turkeys. He was also employed with the Soil Conservation Commission for five years.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in community, civic and lodge activities. He served as a Woodbury County trustee.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Susan and Steve McElrath of Moville; four sons and their wives, Jerry and Bernell, Gary and Terri and Larry and Susan, all of Moville and Steven and Kim of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Sylvia Fleming and Dorothy Mansfield,both of Muretta, California; a brother and his wife, Marvin and Beverly of Muretta; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Elsie.

Pallbearers will be Jerry, Gary, Larry, Steven, Jason and Jamie Steffen and Steve McElrath.
