Edna Metcalf, 90, 2215 S. Oleander St. died Monday, March 2, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tri-State Christian Church in South Sioux City with the Rev. Philip J. Olsen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Christy Morningside Funeral Home.
Mrs. Metcalf, the former Edna VanCleve was born October 12, 1901, in Sloan, Iowa. She was raised in the Sloan and Holly Springs, Iowa area. She married Clinton Metcalf December 24, 1919, in Sioux City. The couple lived on a farm at Holly Springs before moving to Sioux City in 1967. He died October 29, 1968 in Sioux City.
Mrs. Metcalf was a member of the Tri-State Christian Church in South Sioux City and was active in the church circle.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Unetta) Schaffer, of Sioux City; a grandson and his wife, Jim and Brenda Schaffer of Rochert, Minn; a granddaughter, Mrs. Mike (Barbara) Haller, of Niles, Mich; a great-grandson, Joshua Haller; and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Davis of Anthon, Iowa, Mrs. Thorp (Alice) Johnson of Garrison, ND and Mrs. Margaret Blackwell of Encinitas, California.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Hodgman; two sisters, Violet Payne and Phyllis Napier and a brother, Victor VanCleve.
