Correctionville, Iowa—Ira N. Mitchell, 87, of Colonial Manors Nursing Home, Correctionville, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church at Climbing Hill. The Rev. Vernon Aarnes will officiate. Burial will be in West Fork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill with graveside rites conducted by Wink-Sparks Post 303 American Legion of Moville.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today in the McCulloch Funeral Home at Moville.

Mr. Mitchell was born Nov. 8, 1893, at Fonda. He married Clara McConnell on Jan. 12, 1921, at Pierson.

She died Oct 19, 1968. He farmed in Plymouth, Woodbury and Monona counties and lived at Climbing Hill until 1968 when he moved to Moville. He lived there until 1976 when he moved to the nursing home at Correctionville.

Mr. Mitchell served in the Army with the 327th Infantry, 82nd Division. He was a 60-year member and honorary life member of Wink-Sparks Post 303 and was a member of the Veterans of World War I at Onawa.

Survivors include four sons, John D. of Sioux City, Howard D. of Sergeant Bluff, Ira D. of Washta and Neal E. of Correctionville; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Wilma) Schuldt of Sioux City, Mrs. Wayne (Lila) Howard of Moville and Mrs. Marvel Hartle of LeMars; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and one sister, Edith Pearl Linn of Elkhorn.
