Merideth Ann Stauber was born June 5, 1936, to Guy and Mabel Miller in Manilla, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Manilla and went on to finish business school in Omaha. Following business school, she worked at Bankers Life Insurance in Des Moines.

She was united in marriage to Larry Edward Stauber on Feb. 3, 1962, at the Catholic church in Manilla. They lived in Lawton for 34 years. Many in Lawton have driven by and enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, that she so enjoyed. They had three children, Judi, Susan and Mike. She did day-care in their home for several special little friends while her kids were growing up. She then was employed with Sears in Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City for 15 years, sharing many fun times with her friends there.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She loved to laugh with her friends and family and took great delight in being with her grandchildren. She loved filling their homes with wonderful smells from homemade chicken noodle soup and oyster stew on Christmas Eve to her famous peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips on top, which were good anytime. She was a wonderful seamstress. Many in her family were so fortunate to have her teach them to sew. They'll treasure forever their "Grandma blankies" from her.

Survivors include her husband, Larry of Lawton; two daughters and their husbands, Judi and Kevin Counter Jr. of Sioux City, and Susan and David Rodd of Rapid City, S.D.; a son, Mike Stauber of Sloan, Iowa; her grandchildren, Brandon and Bryan Stone, Bradley and Destyni Counter, Browdie and BayLee Rodd and Colte and CJay Stauber; three sisters, Lynn Brightwell, Joyce Hansen and Carol Lee Miller; two brothers, Everette Miller and Bob Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Mabel Miller; two sisters, Genevieve Vennink and Joanne Manthe; a brother, Keith Miller; Larry's parents, Tony and Lucilla Stauber of Lake City, Iowa; and several nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Veral Heller, Terry Johnson Sr., Terry Johnson Jr., David Christiansen, Todd Cropley and Jason Edwardson.
