CLIMBING HILL, Iowa -- Donald L. Lorenzen, 78, of Deming, N.M., formerly of Climbing Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Deming.

Services were held Dec. 2, at Bacas Funeral Chapel in Deming.

Mr. Lorenzen was born Sept. 14, 1924, on a farm in Westfork Township, Woodbury County, Iowa, to Lorenz and Ora (Lyons) Lorenzen. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and attended rural schools. He graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1941. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served overseas as a lineman in World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

He was united in marriage to Norma Friedrichsen on March 25, 1951. They farmed near Climbing Hill for over 20 years. He also had Don's T.V. and Appliance business in Moville, Iowa for several years. The couple moved to Deming in 1967.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; a sister-in-law, Jan Friedrichsen; three nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred (Lorenzen) Lenz; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Friedrichsen.
