Leo J. Rose, 92, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Jirousek of First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Rose was born Aug. 16, 1910, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of William A. and Anna (Schoenhoff) Rose.

He married Dora A. Jensen in July 1938. The couple later divorced. He married Dorothy L. Charles on July 13, 1960, in South Sioux City. She died May 19, 1997, in Sioux City.

He had farmed in the Hubbard, Neb., area at one time. He had resided in the Siouxland area since 1944. He retired from Iowa Public Service in 1971, after 31 years of service.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Whitfield United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing cribbage, gin rummy and rumi cube.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Bennett of Atascadero, Calif.; a son and his wife, Harold and Brenda Rose of Le Mars, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Patricia Ege and JoAnn Sitzman, both of Sioux City; two brothers and their wives, Edward and Sue Rose and Carl and Diana Rose, all of Owensville, Mo.; five sisters, Dorothy Korff of Owensville, Helen and her husband, George West of Sullivan, Mo., Mary and her husband, Harold Roussett of Gerald, Mo., Ruth Miller of Owensville and Bernice Ketterer of O'Fallon, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Marilyn Kober; four brothers, Richard, Joe, Walter and Bill Rose; and a granddaughter, Vivien Bennett.

Memorials may be directed to Whitfield United Methodist Church.
