DANBURY, Iowa -- Cleo F. "Bud" Robinson, 79, of Danbury died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Danbury United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kathy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Born July 16, 1923, in Lone Rock, Iowa, Bud was the son of James "Garf" and Anna (McAllister) Robinson. He graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1941.

On Jan. 30, 1942, he married Luella Koch in Battle Creek. The couple settled in Battle Creek, where he worked for his brother, Delos "Pansy" Robinson, at his grocery store in Battle Creek for several years. Luella passed away in 1951.

On Jan. 10, 1954, he was united in marriage to Bernice (Cose) Quandt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He sold automotive parts in Denison, Iowa, for a time, then went into partnership with his brother, Pansy, at a grocery store in Holstein, Iowa. In 1957, the store was sold and the couple relocated to California. There he worked for a grocery store and was later employed with Van Nuys Water and Power. They retired to Danbury in 1979.

He enjoyed playing cards and tinkering with clocks and woodworking projects. He especially loved dancing with the senior citizens and was active in Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a member of Danbury United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors and Battle Creek Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two sons and their wives, Veryl and Cheri Robinson of Rockvale, Tenn., and Kenneth and Mary Ann Robinson of Junction City, Calif.; three stepchildren, Bernadeen Steinkamp and Colleen Nissen and her husband, Glenn, all of Wall Lake, Iowa, and Wayne Quandt and his wife, Linda of Kingsville, Texas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 23 stepgrandchildren; a great-stepgrandchild; and a sister, Joyce Brown of Anthon, Iowa.

In addition to his first wife, he also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Veryl and Delos "Pansy" Robinson; a brother-in-law, Paul Brown; and a stepson-in-law, Paul Steinkamp.
