Darlene L. Hoing, 69, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at her residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Slaven officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Hoing was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Sioux City, the daughter of Tom and Vera (Smith) McGinnis. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She graduated from East High School in 1952.

She married John Hoing on March 8, 1952, in Yuma, Ariz. She was a surgical aid at St. Joseph Hospital and later at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. She enjoyed being a care giver and was a home health aid before retiring in 1996. Mr. Hoing passed away Jan. 21, 2000, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Church of the Nativity. She enjoyed gardening, singing, cross-stitching, taking care of her plants and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Randy and Pam Hoing and Larry and Kamyl Hoing, all of Sioux City; two daughters, Teresa Ullrich and Patti and her husband, Bernie Fullbright, all of Sioux City; a brother, Denny McGinnis of Omaha; three sisters, Sharon Cunningham and Bonnie Rissell, both of Sioux City and Carol Mueller of Mulvane, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Sarah Ullrich, Kristin Carman, Ellisha Skog, B.J. Bends, Adam, Brandon and Cayen Hoing; and four great-grandchildren, Julianne Jayde Walz, Jaxon Walz, Elijah John Bends and Miracle Carman.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Don, Mike and Pat; and four sisters, Virginia, Clarice, Jean and Shirley.

Pallbearers will be Jim, Adam and Brandon Hoing, Sean Brennan and Michael Shay.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
