MOVILLE, Iowa -- Lois Eileen Ralston, 73, of Moville died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mrs. Ralston was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Earl F. and Mabel (Johansen) Berg. She was raised in Sioux City, where she attended school. She graduated from East High School in 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper at Cudahays before her marriage.

She married Arthur Ralston on June 24, 1951, in Sioux City. The couple lived in Moville, Cherokee, Iowa for a brief time, then near Washta, Iowa, where they farmed. They returned to Moville in 1956, where they have been since. After their children left home, she worked at Metcalf, Thompson and Phipps during the tax season.

She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, where she served as board secretary and led numerous committees. She served as president of Conservation District of Iowa Auxiliary since 1995, regional treasurer for the National Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary, as a former president of Woodbury Central School board, former Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and former president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also served as a former president of Woodbury Central P.T.A., as Moville Township clerk and as former president of the Meadowlark Ladies Golf League.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Ralston of Moville; six children and their spouses, Alan and Diane Ralston of Moville, Ann and Dean Bartelt of St. Charles, Iowa, Wayne and Janet Ralston of Moville, Brian and Melody Ralston of Tremont, Ill., Jane and Dan Parkhill of Lawton, Iowa, and Karen and Randy Wood of Indianola, Iowa; a sister, Margaret Swenson of Le Mars, Iowa; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Earl.
