DANBURY, Iowa -- Dwayne Edward Franzkowiak, 69, of Danbury died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his residence.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller, Iowa. The Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiated.

Dwayne Edward Franzkowiak was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Schaller, the son of Henry and Dorothy "Dora" (Dadt) Franzkowiak. They resided in the Schaller area. He attended country school near Schaller. He entered the U.S. Armed Services at Fort Smith, Ark., in 1956. He was later stationed in California as a military policeman. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

On June 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Barbara Peters in Schaller. They divorced in the mid-1980s, but remained close friends who vacationed and visited family together.

He had worked at Schaller Co-op Elevator. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, going to livestock auctions and was always willing to help a friend.

He is survived by his children, Tammy and her husband, Butch Kluver of Kiron, Iowa, Denise and her husband, Michael Klink of Newell, Iowa, Rebecca and her husband, Darrell Wolf of Danbury, and Tony Jensen and his fiancee, Lori of Whiting, Iowa; his grandchildren, Todd Schossow and his fiancee, Beth Voge, Adam Schossow and his fiancee, April Seel, Lucas Schossow, Nicole, Kyle and Rebecca Klink, Jacob Kluver, Justin Coombs, Savannah and Levi Jensen; his great-grandchild, Braleigh Schossow; special friend, Mary Neihaus; two brothers, Frank Franzkowiak of Ida Grove, Iowa, and George Franzkowiak of Schaller; a lifelong friend, Urban Tripp; and extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Henry and Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a general memorial fund.
