Fabian Paul Bruneau, 82, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at a Sioux Falls, S.D. hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel in Sioux City, with Robert Borger as speaker. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bruneau was born July 16, 1920, in Jefferson, S.D., the son of Henry and Emma (Clay) Bruneau. He was raised in Jefferson and attended Jefferson Public School. He was employed with Armour and Co. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1942 to December 1945. His awards and decorations include the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Medal.

He married Lois Harder on June 1, 1963, in Luverne, Minn. He was employed with Sioux Transportation and Midwest Cartage, retiring in 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Bruneau of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Lori and Jeff Barrett of Sioux City; a sister, Iva Alberts of South Sioux City; a granddaughter, Amy Barrett of Sioux City; a grandson, Trevor Barrett of Sioux City; a stepson, Robert Borger of Memphis, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be Jeff and Trevor Barrett, Joe, Mark and Rick Bruneau and Norman Strong.
