Marilyn M. Moir, 64, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jon Gaul officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Moir was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Garden Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and Hazel (Traupel) Elder. She was raised in the Garden Grove and Humeston, Iowa area. She graduated from Humeston High School in 1957 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1959, with her teaching certificate. She continued her education at Drake University, where she received her degree. She taught school for 10 years in the towns of Jefferson, Ames, Schaller and Storm Lake, Iowa.

She married John E. Moir on Aug. 6, 1966, in Ames. They lived in Storm Lake and Humbolt, Iowa, prior to moving to Sioux City in 1973. She was a homemaker and took care of her children. She worked as a teacher's aide while her children attended Nodland Elementary School.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was very active in the churches activities. She also was a member of the P.E.O. Chapter DX. She enjoyed playing bridge, shopping for her children and grandchildren and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Moir of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, JoLynn and Matt Wehde of Chilton, Wis.; a son and his wife, David and Linnea Moir of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Russell and Mary Jane Elder of Humeston, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Joan and Ivan Crandell of Grand Junction, Iowa; two grandchildren, Morgan Wehde and Chaeli Moir; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Tom DeWitte, Don Seymour, Neil Helvig, Carlton Jackson, Ken Ackerman and Ken Keith.

Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church.
