Nicholas "Nick" Karroll, 86, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, in Sun City West following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Karroll was born in Sioux City on April 4, 1916. He graduated from East High School and Morningside College. He was active in athletics in both high school and college. He enlisted as a cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He subsequently retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a major. When he lived in Sioux City, he was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church.

In 1956, he moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service. After his retirement, he moved to Sun City West in 1979. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City West.

He is survived by his wife, Eva, two nieces and a nephew.
