Wallace Martin Johnson, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Wallace Johnson was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Sioux City, the son of Joseph and Mary Johnson. He attended Sioux City public schools. He served in the U.S. Army as a private from Nov. 13, 1952, to Oct. 27, 1954.

He married Beverly Primm. She died on Dec. 21, 1971. He married Marleen Boucher on Aug. 31, 1974, in Nebraska. Mr. Johnson worked for Wincharger, then Zenith Dyna Tech. He also worked for Sioux City Brick and Tile and then Sioux Harbor, retiring in 1994.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing pool, gambling, playing his handheld poker machine, and watching old westerns and game shows.

Survivors include his wife, Marleen of Sioux City; two daughters, Rosie Green and Susan Johnson, both of Sioux City; a stepson, Steve and his wife, Kim Norton of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a stepdaughter, Holly Chartier of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret and Delores, both of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Beverly, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Joey Green, Danny Johnson, Travis Johnson and Brian Norton.
