SIOUX CITY -- Daniel Lee Lego, 50, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

There will be no services. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Daniel was born Feb. 13, 1959, at Davenport, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Delores (Fellner) Lego. He attended school and graduated from United Township School, Silvis, Ill. He joined the U.S. Air Force in August 1981.

Daniel married Sherry Yeh on March 16, 1982, in New Mexico. Together they made their home in New Mexico for a short time before moving to Illinois. In December 1984, they moved to Okinawa, Japan, where Daniel was stationed. After his honorable discharge in 1988, Dan and Sherry moved to Davenport, Iowa, and then to Sioux City in June 1990. He worked as a computer engineer for Gateway for 14 years until its closing. He continued his education at Bellevue University, where he was on the dean's list two years running. He then worked as a real estate and insurance agent.

Daniel enjoyed working with and making jewelry. He particularly liked cutting and mounting precious stones. Daniel was also studying to become a medical coding specialist.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Lego of Sioux City; a son, Mark Lego and girlfriend, Steff Tucker of Sioux City; a daughter, Lori Lego and boyfriend, Jerry Pickering of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Aleena Lego and Serenity Wicker; his mother Delores Brown of Davenport, Iowa; a sister, Sheri and Mike Coons of Kansas City, Kan.; aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Lego.
