Gladys Ferna Benton, 94, of Sioux City, formerly of Oto, Iowa, died Saturday, July 6, 1996 at her home.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, at the Oto United Church of Christ with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Oto Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. The Armstrong Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Benton was born April 22, 1902, in Oto, the daughter of William Bentley and Ella Matilda (Chaulker) Clary. She attended school in Oto and married Marion Louis Benton Sr in SIoux City on Feb. 20, 1920. He died Aug. 16, 1973. The couple lived in Oto for several years before moving to Sioux City, where they owed and operated Benton Coffee Shop for over 20 years. She also worked in retail sales for Younker-Davidson Co. and J.C. Penney in Sioux City.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Nancy A Benton of Sioux City, Richard G Benton of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Gary E Benton and his wife Cinda of Grapevine, Texas and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Marion L Benton Jr.
