Abbie Wood Hartwig, 89, 3131 Grandview Blvd, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 1989 at her residence after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard Sweeney, pastor, officiating and Monsignor John C. Doherty and the Rev. Dennis Meinen con-celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. in Larkin Northside Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hartwig, the former Abbie Kneedler, was born August. 2, 1899 in Sioux City, daughter of Charles and Lillian Kneedler. She attended Bancroft and Hunt Grade Schools. Central High School and Morningside College. She graduated from Sinsinawa (WI) Girls College in 1918. She married Hobart Lee Wood June 9, 1921. He died July 31, 1951 in Sioux City. She married Dr. Joseph I. Hartwig of Minneapolis, MN May 28, 1955 in Sioux City. He died Dec. 12, 1962.
Mrs. Hartwife was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the church Confraternity. She was a member of Chapter LX PEO, and sustaining member of the Sioux City Junior League; DAR, Martha Washinton Chapter; and the Sioux City Woman's Club.
Survivors include a son, Charles Wood and wife Delores of Sioux Falls, SD; three daughters Margaret DuBois and Mrs. Robert (Connie)Temple, both of Sioux City and Virginia Snowden of Dickson, TN; a sister Mrs. Stephen (Catherine) Lisle of Edina, MN, 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
A memorial has been established in her name with Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
