Odil R. English, 81, 1525 Douglas St., died Friday at a Sioux City hospital following a three-month illness.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1887 at Kenosha, WI. He as a former lubricating engineer with Standard Oil Co. and retired in 1952. Mr. English married Catherine Stackerl in Sioux City on June 7, 1913. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany; Knights of Columbus, Third and Fourth Degrees; Engineers Club; Isaac Walton League and the Petroleum Bureau. He was a former member of Rotary Club.
A memorial fund for the University of South Dakota Medical School has been established in honor of Mr. English.
Surivors include the widow; one son, Edward J. of Yankton, SD; one sister, Mrs. John Brown of Racine, WI; and four grandchildren.
The body was taken to Larkin Funeral Home.
