Emmet Arnold & Mildred (Culler) King

Emmett A. King was the third son born to Jay Cecil “Curly” and Freda (Harm) King on September 12, 1921. He lived with his family in Correctionville until 1943 when he began three years of service in the U.S. Navy, including two years in the Pacific Theater.

On September 12, 1946, Emmitt was united in marriage with Mildred Culler of Pierson. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended radio and electronic school. In 1947 he began working for the communications division for the State of Iowa where he served for 39 years as stations operator and supervisor in Storm Lake, Belmond, Denison and back again in Storm Lake until his retirement in 1986. He served as mayor of Goodell for four years and as mayor of Lakeside for four years. He was a member and past member of the Masonic Lodge for over 34 years.

Emmett and Mildred became parents to five children; Marilyn of Phoenix, Arizona, Steve of Kiron, Kathy of Kansas City, John of Woodward and Gary of Omaha.

Emmett passed away on December 31, 1991, in Sioux City and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery at Pierson. Mildred is currently living in Storm Lake.
