James J Sheehan Family

James J Sheehan was born September 24, 1936, in LeMars, Iowa, the son of Joseph Fahey Sheehan and Maurine Gard Sheehan. James Sheehan’s grandparents were very early farmers in rural LeMars, Iowa. James Sheehan’s maternal grandparents also farmed for some period of time near Sioux City, Iowa.

James J Sheehan graduated from Gehlen High School in LeMars. He attended the University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria, and graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, in 1959. He managed Sheehan Produce in LeMars, before entering the banking business at the First National Bank in a LeMars.

On September 30, 1961, he and Rosemary McGuirk were married in Sioux City, Iowa. Rosemary McGuirk is the daughter of Benedict Vincent McGuirk and Marguerite Mannion McGuirk of Sioux City. Rosemary Sheehan’s maternal and paternal grandparents farmed near Newcastle, Nebraska. Rosemary Sheehan graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City, and attended the University of Vienna and Clarke College, where she graduated magna cum laude. Rosemary received her Master’s degree in English form the University of South Dakota and a Law degree from the University of South Dakota.

On January 6, 1967, James and Rosemary moved to Pierson, Iowa, with their family of three children. James is the President of the Farmers Savings Bank. He has attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and the School of Banking at Harvard University. Rosemary is a practicing attorney and member of the law firm of Crary, Huff, Clem, Raby, and Inkster, PC.

The Sheehan family includes John Patrick Sheehan, born July 29, 1962. John is presently a sophomore at Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Julie Ann Sheehan was born on July 25, 1964. Julie is the first student of the Pierson or Kingsley School Districts to be named a National Merit Scholar. She is a freshman at Yale College, New Haven, Connecticut.

Robert Pierson Sheehan was born on August 2, 1969. Robert is a seventh grader in the Kingsley-Pierson School District.
