Henry and America (Sellars) Parker

Henry Gardner Parker was born in Warren County, Illinois, December 2, 1851. At the age of 16 he and his parents moved to Missouri and one year later moved to Harrison County, Iowa. On November 14, 1875, at Persia, Iowa, he was united in marriage to America June Sellars, who was born June 3, 1859 near Council Bluffs, Iowa. After living three years at Neola, Iowa, they moved to Caldwell, Kansas, and later moved back to Harrison County, Iowa. Henry and Jane Parker were residents of Harrison County, Iowa until 1891 when they located in Woodbury County. They farmed in the vicinity of Smithland, Iowa, and retired there.

To this union were born six children: William C Parker, who married Amis Harris. Will Parker, who was Woodbury County’s first contribution to the war’s casualty list, enlisted in the Canadian Army at Renard, Canada, where he was living at that time. He was killed in action in France during World War I.

Fred Parker of Wilmington, California, married Laillia Bowers. Lailla is still living at this time.

Eva Parker married Joseph McLarty.

Ella Leotta Parker married George McLarty.

Myrtle Parker married Verz Warner.

Clarence Herbert ‘Bert’ Parker married Mary Ellen McLarty, descendant of James and Ann Ervin McLarty, in 1902. To this union were born three daughters and one son.
