Clarence Herbert ‘Bert’ Parker, son of Henry and America Sellers Parker, and Mary Ellen McLarty, daughter of James and Ann Ervin McLarty, were married in 1902. To this union were born three daughters and one son.

Clarence Austin Parker died in infancy.

Elsie Elizabeth Parker taught school for 35 years at various places in Woodbury and Monona Counties and retired from teacher at Harlan, Iowa, in Shelby County. She is now living in Sioux City. While residing at Smithland, Iowa, she was pianist and organist at the Methodist Church.

Ann Marie married Raymond Wilson, a former Sioux City, Iowa resident, in 1934. He received his degree in podiatry in Chicago, Illinois, and practiced in Atlantic, Iowa. Ann worked in the office assisting Ray in his work. He has retired now and they are living in Atlantic, Iowa.

Masel Lorene Parker married James Heck in 1934. He was a former dragline operator and worked in Woodbury and neighboring counties. Later years he worked at Armours in Sioux City and retired from there.

Masel and James had two sons, James Ramon and Robert Duane, and one daughter. Judith Ann who was stillborn in Hutchinson, Kansas, and is buried there. James was operating a dragline at the air bases there during World War II.

James Ramon married Elaine Sandvold in 1957. They had five children, Debras Kay, Kimberly Rae, Mark Alan, Lisa Linn, and Paula Joy. Their married has since dissolved. Robert Duane married Bonnie J Gernhart in 1964 and they have one daughter, Shelly Mae.

‘Bert’ Parker used to do trucking and hauling livestock to the stockyards in Sioux City. He had a Hawkeye truck with hard rubber tires. This was one of the first trucks in that vicinity. He also drove a hack between Smithland and Rodney. This was used to carry mail and passengers to meet the trains. In later years he hired out for farm work. Bert and Mary Parker spent most of their lives living in the town of Smithland and farming in that vicinity. Bert and Mary and their infant son were buried in the cemetery at Smithland.
