I, Lorraine Godfredson Godsey, dughter of James and Edith Christensen Godfredson, was born November 23, 1920, and was married to Maurice Milton Godsey, February 9, 1947. Maurice was the son of Calvin Taft and Mary Chartier Godsey, born November 1, 1921. Following our marriage we moved to a farm southeast of Sloan and continued to farm until Maurice’s death, March 19, 1974, at the age of 52 years. We are the parents of three children: Sharon, Mrs Jerry Collins, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, was born June 2, 1948. They have tow sons, Michael, born October 18, 1973, and Nicholas, born July 1, 1980. Calvin James of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He presently is employed in sales work. His birthday is June 17, 1951. David Wayne, of Whiting, married sharon Morey and they have one son, Matthew, born March 8, 1979.

Following my graduation from Salix High School in 1938, I attended National Business Training School and worked several years for the ASC office before my marriage. For the past fifteen years I have been employed as secretary to the principal of Westwood High School in Sloan, Iowa. In the fall of 1980, I purchased a home and moved form the farm to make my home in Sloan where I now reside.

I have one brother, Chester James Godfredson of Salix, who married Shirley Dee form Gloucester, England; and two sisters, Mrs John (Wilma) Dantzler of Wilmington, Delaware; and Mrs Gene (Phillis) Cook of Sergeant Bluff.

Maurice had one sister, Mrs Chalres ‘(Bette) Antrim of South Sioux City, Nebraska.

My father, James Godfredson, was born September 14, 1888, and died May 19, 1967; and mother, Edith Godfredson, was born January 26, 1894, and died December 14, 1974.

Maurice’s father, Calvin Taft Godsey, was born in 1888, and died January 1945, and Mary Chartier Godsey, born November 11, 1890, and died December 1, 1970.

My grandparents were Lewis Godfredson, born May 9, 1854, died March 8, 1933; Johannah Godfredson, born February 11, 1854, died March 8, 1919; Hans Christensen, born September 4, 1858, and died December 6, 1941; and Anna Christensen, born June 7, 1859, and died February 28, 1928.
