When sales of machines were halted due to the war, Edmund went with Wincharger Corp, a division of Zenith Radio who manufactured dynamotors for the war effort. In 1946, a partnership was formed with his father and a local agency was purchased and combined with his fathers’ agency. The partnership was dissolved in 1969 after which he continued to operate with the help of his wife until 1977. In the meantime, search for relatives in Sweden and his father’s side and in Germany on his mother’s side resulted in a visit to them in 1977.

The oldest daughter, Betty, born in 1942, grew up in Sioux City, attended Morningside College for two years and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a degree in Home Economics in Education. She taught in Riverside High in Sioux City before her marriage to Eugene Prentice.

He returned to Sioux City, married Karen Jensen, of Jackson, Nebraska and went into manager training program with Kmart Corporation, serving in several stores, presently in Kansas City. Thomas has two children: Joel and Kristin.

Upon retirement Edmund has served with City Assessor Office and also census survey in 1980. His wife is currently enrolled in Morningside College German language class and works in the student’s Post Office on campus.
