Evelyn Lucille Mook was the 2nd child born to Roy Mook and Frances Clara Frangenberg on July 15, 1924 on a farm near Merrill, Iowa in Plymouth County, Iowa. She attended elementary school at a Country School west of Merrill for a few years. She lived in South Sioux City, Nebraska, for a short time before moving to Salix, Iowa, with her parents about 1932. She completed her elementary education and graduated from St Joseph’s Catholic School in1941. Evelyn was employed at various jobs in Sioux City before moving to McHenry, Illinois in 1949. She married Eugene Robert Eppel on January 12, 1952, at Woodstock, Illinois. Eugene is the son of Fred and Eva Eppel and was born on September 2, 1918 at McHenry, Illinois. He received his education at McHenry and graduated from McHenry High School in 1935. Eugene, Evelyn and Glenn Eppel, a brother of Eugene, farmed 240 acres just west of McHenry on Highway 120. Until recently they operated a dairy business and had a herd of 38 milk cows. The farm has been in the family for sixty-three years. Eugene and Evelyn Eppel are the parents of four children: Linda, Jane, Robert, and Nancy.

Linda Ann Eppel was born January 13, 1953 at Woodstock, Illinois. She graduated form McHenry High School in 1971. She attended Buena Vista College at Storm Lake, Iowa for one year. Upon returning to McHenry, she worked as a switch board operator at the McHenry Medical Center. Linda Eppel and Jon Wills were married on March 20, 1981 at McHenry, Illinois. Jon is the son of Charles Jerald Wills and Ruth Emily Curry and is currently studying to be a ParaMedic, he also raises and trains dogs. Jon and Linda are the parents of one son, Zachary Jon Wills born October 5, 1981 at McHenry, Illinois.

Jane Ellen Eppel, the 2nd child of Evelyn and Eugene Eppel was born December 25, 1955 at Woodstock, Illinois. She graduated form McHenry High School in 1974. Her first employment was with the State Bank of McHenry. Jane is now employed in Chicago as an account clerk.

Robert Eugene Eppel, the 3rd child born to Evelyn and Eugene Eppel was born January 31, 1957, at Woodstock, Illinois. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1975 where he enjoyed playing on the football team. He attended Augustana University in Illinois and earned his degree in Geography in 1980. He is employed in the construction business in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the present time.

Nancy Irene Eppel is the 4th child born to Eugene and Evelyn Eppel on September 2, 1963, at McHenry, Illinois, this date also being her father’s birth date. She graduated from McHenry High School in 1981 and married Brian Pender, son of Tom and Diane Pender on September 18, 1982 at McHenry, Illinois. Nancy is employed at a bank in McHenry and Brian is an employed as a mechanist. They presently reside in McHenry, Illinois.
