Gerald Samuel Goodwin was born April 13, 1900, at Correctionville, Iowa. He was the third child of Samuel H and Mable (Robbins) Goodwin. He attended rural school at Summit No. 2 and Correctionville High School.

Gerald, known as Jerry, was united in marriage to Clara Faye Utesch, March 9, 1953, at Elk Point, South Dakota. Faye was born January 29, 1915, on a farm near Anthon, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Cleao (Parks) Utesch. When Faye was one year old, the family moved to a farm on the Ridge road, north of Correctionville with horses and wagons. Faye attended the rural school at Summit No. 2 and graduated form Correctionville High School witht the class of 1932.

Gerald and Faye first lived on the Dustin Robbins Homestead, and then moved to a farm in Section 2. December 1946, they moved to the farm his parents, Samuel and Mable Goodwin, vacated when they moved into Correctionville; they still live on this farm. In 1977, the Goodwin was designated a century farm.

Faye was a 4H leader for more than twenty years and was honored for this distinction. She always enjoyed watching the girls grow in their work each year.

As a lad Gerald enjoyed working with and riding horses, which motivated him to serve as Horse Superintendent at the Woodbury County Fair for many years. Gerald also served on the Woodbury County board for several years and is a trustee of Union Township.

Gerald and Faye celebrated their 50th Anniversary in March 1983 with open house hosted by their children and grandchildren.

Lee Gerald Goodwin was born April 16, 1939, at Correctionville, Iowa. Lee attended rural school Summit No. 2 and graduated from Correctionville High School in 1957. He was active in 4H work and attended Club Congress in Chicago as a member of the State 4H Livestock judging team in 1956. Le married Colleen Kay Todd, June 3, 1961. Colleen was born January 11, 1943, and is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Todd of Correctionville. They farmed near Correctionville for three years and now live on a farm near Aurelia, Iowa.

Lee and Colleen have two children: Kristal Kay born February 25, 1966, is a senior at Aurelia High School; Myron Lee, born March 20, 1969, is in the ninth grade at Aurelia.

Keith Eugene Goodwin was born July 3, 1943, at Kingsley, Iowa. He attended a rural school at Summit No. 2 and graduated from Correctionville High School. Keith was active in 4H as a youth. Keith was united in marriage to Carol Kay Madsen on January 10, 1970. Carol was born July 6, 1946. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Glen Madsen of Linn Grove, Iowa. They are the parents of two children: Jennifer Kay, born May 23, 1973, and attending Eastwood School at the Correctionville center; Jason Keith, born May 30, 1976, also attending school at the Correctionville center.

The Keith Goodwin family lives on a farm in Union Township, Section 11. In 1976, they built a brick house to replace the former house, no longer usable.

Karen Elaine Goodwin Johnosn, a twin sister of Keith, was born at Kingsley, Iowa, July 3, 1943. Karen is 45 minutes younger than Keith. She also attended rural school Summit No. 2, as did her brothers, parents and grandparents, Samuel and Mable Goodwin. Karen graduated from Correctionville High School in 1961 and was active in 4H work. Karen attended Iowa State University at Ames and graduated in March 1965.

Karen married David R Johnson of Geneseo, Illinois, March 28, 1965. David was born November 2, 1940, and is the son of Mr and Mrs Marvin Johnosn of Geneseo, Illinois.

Karen and Dave are the parents of two daughters: Deanna Leah, born February 10, 1968, now in the tenth grade at Geneseo; Kirsten Ann, born January 30, 1969, in the ninth grade at Geneseo.
