Emma Haafke Graham

Emma Haafke was born in December of 1880. She was born on the Edward Haafke farm and was the sixth child to be born in the family of those who lived to adulthood. She, too, attended the Elliott Creek School as did her brothers and sisters.

Emma first became a teacher and taught in rural schools around the Bronson area. She attended Morningside College. She later decided to become a nurse and entered the Good Samaritan Hospital for her training where she received her RN. Emma was employed as a nurse for many years.

Emma married Roy Graham, a photographer from Atlantic, Iowa. No record can be found for this date of marriage. Roy and Emma lived in Atlantic all of their married life.

She was active in church activities. Her nieces and nephews always had a fun time when they visited her home.

Emma died in Atlantic, Iowa, September 4, 1939. The cause of her death was a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 58 years old.
