Emily, Charles, Donald, Walter, Elsie & Irma Glover

Emily May Glover, daughter of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born August 31, 1912, in Lakeport Township, Woodbury County, Iowa. She attended the Glover School. She married Marvin Goodwin of Sloan, Iowa, on June 27, 1931. They lived in the Sloan vicinity until the early 50’s, when they bought a farm near Moberly, Missouri. In about 1954, they sold out and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. They bought a home thre and both worked in a hospital until they retired; they still live in Salt Lake City. They have three children: Dwight LeRoy Goodwin, born March 21, 1932, is at Mapleton, Iowa; Monte Ray Goodwin, born August 11, 1939, lives near Sloan; Janet Louise Goodwin, born May 26, 1945, is in Sioux City. Marvin and Emily also have many grandchilden and some great grandchilren.

Charles Alvin Glover, son of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born January 2, 1914, in Lakeprot Township, where he grew up and attended the Glover School. In the spring of 1938, he went to California and worked for the Bell Lumber Company. He met and married Arawana ‘Wanda’ Rue of Weed, California. In 1950, they moved to Odgen, Utha, where he worked for the Ogden Arsenal and Tri State Chemical Company in Odgen, until he retired. He built a home in Roy, Utah. They have seven children : Eddie, Benjamin, Larry, Loren, June, Charles LeRoy and Eugene, plus many grandchildren.

Doanld LeRoy Glover, son of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born August 3, 1915, in Lakeport Township, where he grew up and attended the Glover School. He married Helen Willis of Sioux City on December 11, 1938, and worked at various jobs. July 17, 1940, their son, Wayne, was born and thirty-two hours later, on July 19, Wayne’s twin brother, arrived. Donald worked for Iowa Master Breeders Hatchery for quite a few months. In June 1941, he went to Ogden, Utah, found work, and sent for the family. There, the third son was born, Donald Milton Glover, October 7, 1944, on Helen’s birthday. They built a home on Madison Avenue. In September 1945 they sold this home and went to Sioux City and built a small house at 1614 27th Street. He worked for George Headid in his Storage Garage in the Bellevue Apartments. In July 1947, he sold out again and he and his family went to Ogden, Utah, stopped there to see his folks, and then went on to California to see his brothers, Charlie ‘Ben’ and Walt, of Weed, California. His brothers talked him into staying there. He worked for Long Bell Lumber Company and built another house. In 1950, they sold their place and moved back to Ogden, Utah, where he built another home. He worked for the Arsenal again. He is now retired and has a hobby of making doll furniture and diamond willow canes. His boys are married and he has many grandchildren.

Walter Daniel Glover, son of Walter and Rosa May Lamb, was born July 8, 1917, in Lakeport Township, grew up there and attended the Glover School. He went to Salt Lake City in 1941. There he met and married Margie Peterson on January 16, 1942. He injured in military service and by 1950 was confined to a wheelchair. From his wheel chair he built a home, in Roy, Utah, with the help of his father-in-law in some of the things he could not do. It was amazing how he crawled and climbed around to do different things. He had lots of strength in his arms. He owned and operated a saw and law mower sharpening shop until he retired. He passed away May 19, 1983. Walt and Margie had three children: Karen, James and Kenneth. They also have some grandchildren.

Elsie Irene Glover, daughter of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born May 18, 1919, in Lakeport Township, grew up there and attended the Glover School. She worked in Sioux City for awhile and then went to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she met and married LeRoy Peterson, on June 27, 1942. They live at Roy, Utah, and have one son, Leroy Wallace Peterson, born September 29, 1953, in Salt Lake City.

Irma Vivian Glover, daughter of Walter and Rosa Lamb Glover, was born December 14, 1921, in Lakeport Township, where she grew up and attended the Glover School. She met and married Raymond Shupe of Sloan on April 19, 1941. Raymond was born August 15, 1916. Raymond is a plumber and electrician. Irma does upholstering in her home and does beautiful work. They lived in Hornick, Iowa. They have lived in Sloan and Smithland vicinity in the past. They are the paents of eleven children: Rosetta, Dennis, Gloria, Sharon, David, Raymond, Marcia, Mark, Douglas, John and Jefferey.
