Loretta M Ellis was born on a farm between Oto and Danbury on April 2, 1920. I was the youngest of three daughters born to Jesse and Katie (Beaver) Ellis. Jesse is now deceased. Katie was born May 20, 1889, the daughter of Aaron and Allie (Winterringer) Beaver, and passed away October 21, 1983.

I attended the Oto Public school until the spring of the 5th grade. Because of a move to a different farm I then went to Parkhill grade school. My high school years were at Oto High School, from which I graduated.

On December 4, 1939, I was married to Robert Daniels. He was the son of Walter and Mabel (Christensen) Daniels who farmed near Smithland. Robert was born September 25, 1914. He attended a country school, Weber Creek School, for eight grades. He completed the eighth grade. He then farmed until around 1935. He then worked at Sioux City Battery for seven years, then three and one Battery for seven years, then three and one-half years for the Sioux City Lines or Transit Company. He worked at odd jobs for six months before working for Wilson Trailer Compnay, a job which lasted twenty-three years. He retired in 1977 and now enjoys fishing, collection stamps and gardenting. Right now he is raising six geese.

I, Loretta, was a housewife and mother while our four children were growing up. Now I am employed at Siouxland Christian Schools, teaching two and three-year-olds in a day care center.

We are members of Central Baptist Church.

Our children are: 1-Ronald Robert born September 30, 1940. He married Marilyn Potter of Sioux City in October, 1961. He works at Med Continent, where he leases heavy equipment. They have two children: I-Kathy was born August 29, 1962; she has a son, Matthew Scott, born July 10, 1982. 2-Todd was born May 4, 1965. II-Judy Aileen was born April 29, 1943; she is a single school teacher. III-Andrea Christine was born March 7, 1951, she is also single and working making religious tape recordings. IV-Bradley Ellis Daniels was born February 28, 1961; he has been married to Susan Calhoun of Sioux City for three and a half years. He works a turning late at Serling Springs.
