Walter Roy Daniels was born October 31, 1884, at Taylor Station, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He died January 15, 1948, at Smithland, Iowa, and was also buried there. He was the son of Charles Joseph Daniels and Sarah Showalter. He married Mabel Edith Chrestensen at Denison, Iowa, September 30, 1908. Mabel was born November 5, 1891, at Denison, Iowa, to John and Mary (Thompson) Chrestensen.

When Walter was first married, he farmed in Woodbury County; later he operated a gas station in Smithland, Iowa. He lived in Smithland, ten months prior to his death in 1948. Walter was 5’5” tall with brown eyes and dark hair. They attended the protestant church. Mabel usually had a big garden and did a lot of canning. She also sewed and made quilts.

The children were born near Smithland, Iowa: Charles Walter, Muriel Marie, Ralph Roy, Robert Fred, Everett Cecil, Paul Alvin, Edith Mae, Helen Lucille, Kenneth Bruce, John Earl, Margaret Gene, Phyllis Ann, and Billy Jerald.
