She went to Franklin Grade School from kindergarten-6th grade. She rode the bust till 6th grade and then had to walk. The kids use ot meet and walk home together. Virginia also went to Woodrow Wilson Junior High School.
In June of 1953, the Floy River flooded and Virginia and her father moved into an apartment, because everything in the house was ruined or lost.
Virginia had a collection of elephants that she lost. There were over a hundred of them. She also had a doll for every Christmas since she was born and they were lost, too. She had a black cocker spaniel named King that she look out before the flood hit.
Virginia remembers walking up by Woodrow Wilson and looking towards the Floyd River Dike. When the water came over it, it reminded her of a water fall coming over the bank, ruining everything in its path.
Milton and Virginia were married December 11, 1953, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. They lived in an apartment for awhile near Central High School.
When Cudahys closed Milton was out of work for awhile. He got a job for Lipsett Construction at Yankton, South Dakota. HE helped pour cement for towers that electric wires ran on from the Fort Randall Dam. He worked from Westfield, Iowa, to Yankton, South Dakota. He drove back and forth form Sioux City. He also worked for Swifts Produce and then he got hired at Wilson Trailer Company, April 1955 and is still there as a Shear Operator.
They lived with his paents for a while before Milton worked for Wilson Trailer and then rented a house near by in the Springdale Addition.
They use to take King to the Dairy Queen in the summer and got him a small dish of ice cream while they had a cone. He also like to ride in the car. He would stick his head out the car window and let the wind blow in his face. He enjoyed both treats and they enjoyed watching him.

She loves to bake, paint with liquid embroidery paints, crochet and sew when she’s in the mood and has the time. She enjoys writing the club’s paper and writing her husand’s and family’s stories for this book. She also enjoys taking pictures. In fact, the family might say she was a Photo Nut and takes too many pictures. But she enjoys snapping everyone and then looking back on the wonderful times.
