Clarence Abraham Beaver

It was October 16, 1903 that Clarence Abraham Beaver was born in the farm home of Allie (Winterringer) and Aaron Beaver. He was the last child born into this family, joining two brothers, Daniel and Bennie, and three sisters, Katie, Edna and Velira as well as a half sister Jessie Smith. He attended the Winterringer School (Grant Township # 9) which was just at then end of the farm lane. Of course he helped with farm chores and later with the farming.

He was married on September 1, 1926, to Lola Lucille Custer, who had been born May 13, 1908. Her parents were Bessie Jane Belden and Earl Elmer Custer. They had two children: Leonard Clarence and Norma Jean. Clarence farmed for twenty-five yars before going into the business of a feed store in which he handled some hardware supplies and sold gasoline. He remained in that business for thirty years in Climbing Hill, with his son’s assistance.

Lola and Clarence celebrated their golden wedding anniversary as well as four more before Clarence died on October 22, 1980. He was seventy-seven years of age. Burial was in West Fork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill. Lola is still living at Climbing Hill.

Leonard Clarence Beaver was born February 1, 1930, at Oto. He graduated from the Climbing Hill High School and then entered the military service for two years. He married Phyllis Borgheinch of Menominee, Nebraska, on June 30, 1951. She was born October 20, 1933. They are farming near Climbing Hill. They have five children: Randal Leonard, Annette Lucille, Dennis Eugene, Jody Louise, and Sandra Kay. All the children have graduated from Woodbury Central High School in Moville.
Randal Leonard Beaver was born October 6, 1954, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was married on June 16, 1977, to Sherry Ann Schmidt of Moville, who was born July 10, 1957. They have two children: Andy Abraham, born 23 October 1979 in Sioux City and Shannon Renee born 12 November 1982, also born in Sioux City. The father, Randal, works for Simonsons and they live on a farm near Climbing Hill.

Annette Lucille Beaver was born 30 July 1956. She married Danny Harmes, who works for Kidder-Knoepfler in Sioux City. They have two living children: Kelly Ann was born 10 December 1978 and Jill Danielle was born 25 September 1981. Kayla Marie was born 16 October 1982 and died the same day. Annette, the mother, was a practical nurse at a Sioux City hospital. The Danny Harmes family lives in the town of Moville, Iowa.

Dennis Eugene Beaver was born 9 April 1958. He is employed at Rochester Products in Sioux City. He attended college in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for four years and now makes his home in Sioux City.

Jody Louise Beaver was born 23 June 1960. She was married on 24 November 1978 to Jeffrey Petersen, who was born 4 August 1959. They have one child, Jennifer Marie, born 15 May 1979. The Jeffrey Petersen family lives in Moville, Iowa.

Sandra Kay Beaver was born 27 September 1963. She is now taking a course in Spencer, Iowa, titled ‘Traveling Agency’.

Norma Jean Beaver, the second child of Clarence and Lola Beaver, was born on December 8, 1931. She was married to Gerald Vincent Bromander; he was born January 8, 1927. They worked for a farmer near Sloan, Iowa. They are the parents of six children: Marcia, Sherryl Denise, Sydney Clarice, Carmo Jo, David Arvid, and Daniel Earl. The children have all graduated from the Sloan (Westwood) High School.

Marcia Bromander was born Feb 11, 1949. She married Dan Dean who was born January 12, 1949. They live in Sloan and Dan works for Iowa Beef Processors and Marcia works at Home Federal. They have two children: Amanda Joy Dean was born November 10, 1975; and Abby Noel Dean was born December 20, 1978.

Sherryl Denise Bromander was born June 17, 1952. She married Gilbert Conchola, he was born October 12, 1954. Sherryl died August 10, 1976.

Carmo Jo Bromander was born January 27, 1957. She was married on October 6, 1982, to David Wingert, who was born October 7, 1957. David and Carmo live in Sioux City and David works for Iowa Beef Processors.

David Arvid Bromander was born January 4, 1963. He lives at Lyons, Nebraska. He is employed at a hog confinement station.
