Rev. P. A. R. Tierney 1855 - 1918 is shown as buried in Calvary Cemetery, located west of Alta Vista in Chickasaw Co., Iowa.
There are numerous mentions of a Rev. Tierney in various newspapers across Iowa in the 1886 to early 1900s. Two of special note are:
6-1-1896, Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Le Mars, Plymouth Co., Iowa.
"Special Correspondence- Potosia: Rev. Tierney, a cousin of Con Tierney of this place, lectured in the Catholic church Tuesday morning."
8-15-1918, Oxford Mirror, Oxford, Johnson Co., Iowa.
"Mrs. J. Dollmire visited over Sunday with relatives at Delmar. She returned Monday accompanied by her cousin, Rev. Tierney, of Chicago, who was visiting relatives at Delmar, and came to this city for a short visit."
Most of the remaining mentions are functional in nature but name locations, such as:
8-17-1886, Cedar Rapids Gazette, notes:
A Rev. Tierney, of Ossian, as attending investment ceremonies for 12 women at St. Francis Convent.
6-3-1890, Le Mars Sentinel, Notes:
A Rev. Tierney, of Kingsley, as being enroute from Sioux City to Kingsley.
Between 1891 - 1894 a Rev. Tierney, of Granville, Sioux Co., Iowa is mentioned in several newspapers as:
Performing a wedding.
Orating at a 4th of July celebration.
Going to Dubuque on retreat.
Being a witness against a Postmaster accused of malfeasance.5-14-1896, The Milford Mail, notes: Mentions a Rev. Tierney of Spencer, Clay Co., Iowa.
5-15-1896, Spirit Lake Beacon, notes: Rev. P. A. R. Tierney as the orator at a temperance meeting.
6-27-1900, Dubuque Herald, Dubuque, Iowa, notes: Mentions a 4th of July celebration at Epworth, Iowa, under the supervision of a Rev. Tierney, whose mailing address is given as Centralia, Iowa.
1-31-1913, Lemars Sentinal, notes: A Rev. Tierney as performing a wedding at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln Township.
------------------------------------------------.
Note that my search was simply for mentions of a Rev. Tierney in Iowa newspapers between 1880 and 1920, rather than a more specific search for a Rev. Patrick A. Tierney or Patrick A. Tierney. This info should give you some locations and time periods with which you might search the county websites for any further info. Of special interest would be the Sioux Co. website as it appears a Rev. Tierney and Rev. P. A. R. Tierney was located in that area between early to mid 1890s. Also, the Chickasaw Co. website as that is where Rev. P. A. R. Tierney is shown as being buried in W.P.A. records.
