“MRS. JOSIE GREGG” "Josephine Wolfenberger, the eldest of three daughters of Phillip and Luella Wolfenberger, was born Feb. 19, 1878 in Hampton, Iowa. When she was four years old one sister and her mother died and the family was separated, little Josephine was taken in the home of her grandmother, Mrs. C. E. Tunks, who cared for her until she was grown.She was graduated from the Hampton, Iowa, high school, then came to Nebraska and taught in the rural schools of Merrick County for several years. On June 2, 1903, she was united in marriage to Jesse A. Gregg in Central City, Nebraska. They lived on a farm near Pierce Chapel for a few years and also lived in Vermont for one year. The moved to Clarks some thirty years ago, living here continuously since then.Never robust in health she became an invalid many years ago and was tenderly cared for by her husband until he was stricken by illness about a year ago and passed away last August after a lingering illness.
