Gerald Wallace Roney, 77, of Kasson, Minnesota, died Monday, March 17, 2025, at home.

Jerry was born on May 17, 1947, in Decorah, Iowa, to Wallace and Elva Roney. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, Minn., in 1965. On Jan. 28, 1967, he married Linda Egge at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minn. The couple lived in Rochester, Golden Valley, Hopkins, and Young America before settling in Byron, Minn., to raise their family. They then moved to Kasson, Minn.. Jerry worked as a master electrician at Foster Electric and finished his career at IBM until his retirement. He spent 25 years on the Byron Volunteer Fire Department serving 6 of those years as Fire Chief.

Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved listening to his granddaughter sing and play guitar and watching her play sports. One of his favorite places to be was the racetrack watching his grandson race – he was his biggest fan.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Brian of Kasson, MN; daughter, Julie (Jason)Hoff of Mantorville, MN; and two grandchildren, AJ Hoff and Hannah Hoff.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Sunday. The burial will be at a later date.
