Mrs. Mary Haugen Dead.
Mrs. Mary Haugen died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Bringsjord in Bluffton township on Monday, Sept. 28th. Mrs. Haugen was born in Valders, Norway, Sept. 16th, 1828. She was married at her native home in 1849 to Ole O. Haugen. They came to America in 1865 and settled in Springfield township where they lived three years and then moved to the farm in Madison township, now managed by her son Martin. For the last three or four years she has made her home with Mrs. Bringsjord in Decorah and Bluffton townships. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Haugen, two of them dying in Norway in infancy and one dying on shipboard on the way to this country. Six sons, beside her daughter, survive. Those living in this county are Ole, Peter, Nels and Martin and Mrs. Bringsjord. Her son G. O. Haugen lives at Maddock, N. D., and Thomas at Fargo. The funeral will be held to-day at the Synod church, Rev. I. B. Torrison officiating, and interment will be made in the Haugen cemetery. Mrs. Haugen will be carried to her last resting place by her six living sons.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Marit and that she was born Sept. 16, 1827 which does not agree with the above. She is buried in Union Prairie Cemetery.
