Sheriff Flemming’s Mother Dead
In response to a telegram Sheriff Flemming went to Minneapolis Monday morning to attend the funeral of his mother. Mrs. Flemming was a sister of Pat’k Keefe and was a pioneer resident of Winneshiek county, living near Plymouth Rock for a number of years. For the past year or more she has been living in Minneapolis with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Keefe and son Larry went with Mr. Flemming.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Catherine O’Keefe Flemming. She was born May 27, 1831 and died Sept. 28, 1914. He is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Pioneer Winneshiek Resident Who Died in Minneapolis Last Week.
When the REPUBLICAN went to Press last Thursday it had no data concerning Mrs. Catherine Flemming, whose death occurred at the home of her son Chris. Flemming in Minneapolis early in the week. The following data is gleaned from the Minneapolis Tribune of Friday last:
Her six sons bore to her grave in St. Mary’s cemetery yesterday the body of Mrs. Katherine O’Keefe Flemming, 83 years old. For 54 years Mrs. Flemming lived on the same farm near Decorah, Iowa. When in 1912 she came to Minneapolis to live with her children here, she slowly began to fade.
Mrs. Flemming was born in the parish of Ballahole County, Kilkeny, Ireland, on May 25, 1831. In 1842 she came to America and settled near Chicago. On June 14, 1850, she became the bride of Michael Flemming in Chicago and 1855 saw them settled on their farm in Iowa, which was to be her home for 54 years.
Mrs. Flemming resided here at 4408 Zenith avenue south. Her six sons who were pall bearers yesterday are Sergeant Chris Flemming of the Minneapolis police department; J. F. Flemming, Minneapolis; Ed. Flemming, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; William R. Flemming, Mason City, Iowa; Thomas L. Flemming, Grass Range, Montana; L. H. Flemming, Decorah Iowa. Two other sons died. The daughters are Mrs. Mary Byrnes, Cresco, Iowa; Mrs. James Byrnes, Mason City, Iowa, and Miss Catherine Flemming of Minneapolis.
Services yesterday morning were held in St. Thomas church, Forty-fourth street and York avenue south, with Fathers O’Brien, O’Neil and McDermott officiating.
