After an illness of several months’ duration, Mrs. Catherine Leibold was called to her reward early Saturday morning at the age of 85 years. Catherine Goldbach was born in Germany, April 18, 1829. She was married to Peter Leibold May 26, 1858. Early in the year 1861 they came to this country, settling in Fillmore county Minn., where they lived but a short time, later removing to this county where they have since resided. To Mr. and Mrs. Leibold were born eight children Mrs. Achata Schrepfer of Ida Grove, Ia., Pauline Linnenan deceased, Fred of Ossian, Mrs. Josephine Roach of Dubuque and Henry, Frank and Albert of this place. Funeral services will take place Wednesdaya t {sic} 1:30 a. m. from the St. John’s church with interment in the Catholic cemetery. The pall bearers were John Winters, J. H. Leibold, Peter and Henry Schroeder, Hugo Leibold and Barney Kipp. The deceased was highly esteemed by all, and was a faithful member of the Catholic church during her entire life.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in St. John’s Cemetery shows her name as Mary Katherine Leibold. It shows she died Aug. 16, 1914.
