BABY’S LIFE CRUSHED OUT.
The Little Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lubke is Run Over by Milk Wagon.
A very distressing accident occurred at the home of Henry Lubke, west of the city, last Friday, between the hours of 12 and 1 p. m. when their little 16-months’-old son Wilson Raymond was run over and killed. Wm. Telford, employed by the Union Springs Dairy, drove up to the house to get the cream. The little fellow was out in the yard and had crawled under the porch. The milk wagon stopped in front of the porch and it is supposed the boy crawled out from under the porch under the wagon. The wagon being a very low one, coming down within a foot of the ground, nothing could be seen under it. It is thought that when the wagon started up the little boy became frightened and attempted to crawl out from under and was caught by the wheels. A young sister, slightly older than the little boy, seeing her brother lying on the ground ran into the house and told her mother in her childish way that “bruvver is hurted and can’t get up.” Mrs. Lubke rushed out of the house and was horrified to see her little son lying crushed on the ground. He was taken to the house and Dr. Thomas called but he could do nothing. On the left side of the head was a long scar and the skull was broken on both sides, indicating that he was knocked down by the team and the wheels of the wagon struck him a glancing blow. As no one saw the accident, just how it happened cannot be learned. It is one of those distressing accidents for which no one can be blamed, but this is no consolation to the parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lubke have the sympathy of the community.
The funeral was held from the Norwegian Ev Lutheran church last Sunday, Rev Torrison officiating, and interment was made in the Norwegian cemetery of this city, being largely attended.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born April 28, 1913 and died Aug. 14, 1914.
