OBITUARY.
Mrs. Cornelia Janet Gibson, whose death occurred last Friday, Aug. 14th, was born near Winwood, Wayne Co. Pennsylvania, on June 6th, 1829, her maiden name being Cornelia Janet Moore. She was educated in the public schools of Wayne county and later taught school there. In the year 1850 she was united in marriage to James W. Gibson, also of Winwood, Penn., and eight children were born to them: Lusy J., William, J., Lucy M., Myron B., May E., Ida C., Cora G., and Oda R. One little daughter (Lucy J.), died in infancy; Lucy M., William and Cora died after reaching middle age. Mr. Gibson died in 1896. Mrs. Gibson’s home, after leaving Pennsylvania, was for a time in Illinois, later in Wisconsin, and after her husband’s death she came to Minnesota, residing there until about four years ago, when she came to Decorah to reside with her daughter Mrs. Ida Harmon. She is survived by four children: Myron B. Gibson of Santa Rosa, Cal., Mrs. M. E. Wilson of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. B. Harmon of Decorah, and Mrs. L. A. Gullickson of Rushford, Minn., also six grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon, Aug. 17th, from the Methodist church of Decorah, Rev. G. A. Lackland officiating. Interment was made in Phelps cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were Mrs. M. E. Wilson, of Omaha. Neb., and Mrs. L. A. Gullickson of Rushford, Minn.
