OBITUARY.
Orseam Turner was born Dec. 31, 1819, in Romlass, Seneca Co., N. Y. He moved with his parents to Michigan in the year 1844.
In 1845 he was married to Miss Clarinda Sanborn. To this union were born two children, John Pell, who died Dec. 3, 1900, aged 51 years, and Lydia Ann, who died July 4, 1903, aged 58 years. His wife died forty-nine years ago.
Mr. Turner moved from McHenry Co., Illinois, to Boone Co., Iowa, in 1878, where he resided until about seven years ago when he went to Renwick to make his home with relatives. He died at the home of his nephew W. H. Potter, near Renwick, Iowa, on February 23, 1814{sic}, at the advanced age of 94 years, 1 month and 23 days.
Uncle Orseam, as he was familiarly known united with the M. E. church sixty years ago and always lived a consistent and earnest Christian life. He numbered his friends by his acquaintances everywhere, and no one in need of assistance went away unaided, his one desire being to help the poor and needy, and he will long be remembered for his many acts of kindness in his quiet way
Funeral services at Renwick were held in the M. E. church on Wednesday, Feb. 25th, conducted y Rev. J. G. Moyer, his theme being from a favorite passage of Scripture found in Matthew 11: 28. The remains were accompanied to his old home in Boone county by Mrs. W. H. Potter and daughter Gene, Mrs. Byron Brink and Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Thiel, all of Renwick, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Card, Superior, Wis.; E. E. Potter, Canton, Minn.; F. E. Potter, Carrington, N. D.; F. J. Potter, Burr Oak, Iowa; H. Turner and E. M. Jerviss, Decorah, Iowa.
The services were conducted there at the Congregational church in Garden Prairie township by Rev. Violet and the remains were placed in the family lot in Rosebud cemetery to await the coming resurrection.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name as Orasmus Turner. He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Luther, IA.
