OBITUARY.
The following obituary of she who was Mrs. Platt Sanford, appeared in the Cedar Rapids Gazette of March 16th:
Mrs. Mary Sanford Brady, mother of Edward B. and William T. Sanford of this city, died Saturday night in a local hospital after an extended illness, at the age of 64 years.
Mrs. Sanford was born in Rutland, Vermont, and spent the early portion or her life in that state. She was united in marriage to P. R Sanford at Decorah, Iowa, February 186{?}. Three sons, including the two names and Henry P. Sanford of Perry, Iowa, survive.
Mr. Sanford died October 15, 1883, and the following year Mrs. Sanford went to Dennison, Texas, where she resided until 1901. She was married October 10, 1908, in this city, to P. J. Brady and with him located at Judd, South Dakota, where Mr. Brady died in June, 1909. After Mr. Brady’s death Mrs. Brady returned to this city and had since made her home here with her son Edward, 516 South Fifteenth street.
Mrs. Brady was a member of the Immaculate Conception church of this city, and her kind and unselfish disposition made for her a host of friends who will mourn her demise. Rev. Father Lowrey, chaplain at the Mercy hospital, administered her first communion to Mrs. Brady at Decorah when she was a child, and also prepared her for death.
Besides her three sons Mrs. Brady is survived by two sisters, Misses Louise and Katherine Fleming of Minneapolis and two brothers, Thomas J. Fleming of Bowman, N. D., and George F. Fleming of Minneapolis.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she was born Sept. 28, 1850 and died March 15, 1914. She is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA.
